THE OTTAWA GUITAR SOCIETY.
NEWSLETTER - JULY 1971
Summer is the quiet time for the Society. However, we are not entirely out of action; the latest Quarterly will be issued with or shortly after this newsletter, and one or two events are scheduled for the next month or so.
Ed Honeywell is giving a recital at the Arts Centre on Monday, August 2nd. He is sharing a lunchtime concert with an organist, Paul Halley. The concert is sponsored by the C.B.C. as part of their summer series, and will be in the Opera, though not into the full auditorium. Check with C.B.C. for time and admission, if any.
Pat and Roy Sage are having a “Flamenco Party” on Saturday, August 28th. All are welcome; please call 731-3525 if you will be there (they aren't sure what a flamenco party is either!).
The 71 - 72 season for the Society will begin on Sunday, September 26th with a concert by the Greek guitarist, Dimitri Fampos. Fampos has recently established quite a reputation in Europe, and we expect an excellent recital. Further details will be forthcoming.
At the A.G.M. in May Rosemary Emmett was elected treasurer of the Society. Unfortunately Rosemary has been forced to resign for personal reasons. We will miss her services but hope she will be able to continue as an active member. The President has taken over as acting treasurer meanwhile. We need someone to take on the job - at the heart of the Society but not too arduous - so volunteers please contact Roy Sage at 731-3525.
Enjoy the summer - we look forward to seeing everyone
again at the commencement of next season.
The Executive.
