LENNY BREAU, will be featured in a recital on Sunday April 25th at 8:00 p.m. in the Algonquin College Auditorium on Lees Ave.,. Lenny Breau is a young, Canadian guitarist from Winnipeg, now residing in Toronto, who has appeared in numerous television and radio performances in Canada and the United States and has three fine recordings to his credit*. He is basically a jazz artist who plays electric and acoustical guitar in the classical tradition. His music is influenced by country and western music (He is the son of Lone Pine and Betty Coty, two outstandingly successful country singers), the jazz piano stylo of Bill Evans, the flamenco music of Sabicas (He spent three or four years studying flamenco), the more exotic music of India, and rock music. He has been hailed by Nashville guitarist Chet Atkins as it “The greatest new guitarist I've heard in years. I predict he's going to turn out to be the Number One guitar player” and by famed jazz guitarist Johnny Smith who said "Lenny Breau has created a new concept and direction for the Electric guitar!”
General admission tickets for the concert are $2.50 and are available at Metro Music Stores, Blue Note Music, Ken Davidson's Studio or from members of the executive.
