The Ottawa Guitar Society will present a concert by Liona Boyd, Canadian concert guitarist, in the auditorium of the Algonquin College School of Technology (Lees Avenue) on Sunday, February 22 at 8:00 p.m.
Born in London, England, Liona Boyd moved to Toronto eight years ago and began studying the guitar at the age of thirteen, with Mr. Eli Kasser. She is presently completing her studies at the Faculty of Music of the University of Toronto towards her degree in performance.
Miss Boyd has performed in Toronto on several occasions for the Toronto Guitar Society and the University. Last summer she attended Julian Bream's Master Classes in Stratford, Ontario, on a scholarship from the Toronto Guitar Society. She was selected at this time from among the best guitarists in Canada and the United States to perform in a special students recital.
Miss Boyd's programme for this concert will be as follows:

The Ottawa Guitar Society offers its members an opportunity to widen their knowledge and interest in the guitar, to meet and exchange views with follow guitarists and enthusiasts, and to participate in the many activities planned for the 1970/71 season,
Some of the ambitious projects planned by the Ottawa Oud tar society are:
The presentation of recitals by both students and internationally acclaimed artists.
The presentation of special guitar workshops.
A program to aid and encourage guitar making.
The publication of a quarterly review of interesting articles and news from the guitar world.
A program to make guitar music more readily available.
A program to encourage new students of the guitar and non-players.
An Information and news exchange program with other guitar and music societies
